I'm on dialup, so size matters to me. If I'm looking to update an app in SDC,
I check the file size. If the update is large, I'll wait, until I'm not going
to do any surfing.
For the past few months, SDC continuously lies to me (and I have screenshots to prove it)

WindowBlinds update [Size: 1.14MB] Start downloading, and after it gets going, I'm informed
the file is actually 2.96MB...... but before the download finishes the dialog reads;
[3.38MB/2.96MB] 114% complete, Estimated time remaining: 1193046 hours 25 minutes (that's 136 years!)

ObjectDockPlus {Size 50KB]... no it's 8.71MB

Updating DX [1.40MB/979KB] 146% complete, Estimated time remaining: 1193046 hours 25 minutes.

This morning, I decided to download the ObjectBar beta... [Size 695KB].. nope, again I get bit,
3.94MB

Why is SDC pissing in my cheerios?

Yeah, remember when any Stardock program would fit on a floppy disk? Even
now, they wouldn't be so big if you didn't have to get all the crap that
comes with the download (over and over and over....)

I feel your pain...I'm on dialup, too.

If it makes you feel better, the newer versions of Natural Desktop have
been trimmed to be only 42Mb!

(fortunately the large things like wallpapers and sounds are not updated
too often ;-)

Hi there,

What version and build of SDC are you using? What OS?

It sounds like your xml files arent being updated correctly which in turn is
messing up the calculations for the updates.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
Currently using 2.07.333, but has been doing this for months, with several versions.
Haven't said anything until now, because you all had problems galore, after the big
changes with the sites.......... just got my dander up this last time, enough to
need a bit of venting. ;)

What do you suggest? Uninstall, reboot, and reinstall? Or is there a simplier fix?

Hi there,

Can you just confirm which build number you are using (check Help > About)?

Thanks,

Thanx, but as I've said, this has been happening for a few months, and with several versions.
I don't think updating SDC again, is really going to help at this point.
But, I'll probably try it anyway..... ;)

And same with build 86....... every version I've tried in the past few months.
According to a couple of comments on the WC forums, I'm not alone.
Broadband users probably don't notice or don't care, but it's really frustrating to
those of us stuck with dialup.

Does it only ever happen with updates or is this for a first install?

Can you post a screen shot showing the size in the description pane and also
start an update on that item to show the size displayed in the download
controls?

The problem with the sizes being downloaded as 3.38MB/2.96MB will be errors
on the download. SDC will detect if a file hasnt successfully downloaded and
then attempt to redownload it again.
